    Pinoy Best Food : PROVINCE MADE BUKO

    Buko (young coconut)

    Buko contains edible flesh and water. It's flesh has tons of fatty acids, manganese, iron,potasium calcium, and vitamin B, C and E. The juice of buko contains glucose, and electrolytes, which can re-hydrate the body.


    For Filipino, Buko juice is used in treating UTI (urinary tract infection).

    Eating fresh of this kind of fruits is better. It taste good.

    But some Filipino make buko pandan salad for they say, it is more delicious when eating buko with mix of different ingredients. It is said that buko pandan salad is a Filipino favorite dessert during any kinds of occasion.

    But in our province, buko pandan is not popular. We use simple ingredient to have buko salad.


    Ingredients (Pangmaramihan)

    •  buko juice
    •  Mani (Peanut)
    •  Biscuits (any unflavored biscuits. we use sky flakes or any)
    •  condensed milk
    •  Buko flesh
    • Ice (if with out refrigerator)

    How to prepare:

    1.  Grate coconut (buko)  and put into empty "balde" small bucket
    2.  Put all the ingredients mention above and stir.
    3.  Refrigerate (or put some ice)
    4. Serve 

    We use this simple kind of buko salad in our province. All we know that Philippines is a big archipelago, consist of provinces. That is why I use to share the simple buko salad in our province. I said also "pangmaramihan" is becuase in our province, buko or coconut is free, we plant coconut for living. 

    In parties like birthday party, our best dessert is buko where we can make a lot of it by harvesting our buko plant and make some of buko salad. Even it is simple, but I can assure you, it is more delicious. Fresh buko and buko juice in a simple buko salad is more delicious.
